Park after the rain

On Wednesday we wanted to hand out with Nathan & Katie and wanted to do something fun.  She suggested a walk or jumping in puddles- I suggested triad park so Piper could play too- and that is where we went.  It rained all night on Tuesday night and some Wednesday morning so it was pretty wet.  The good thing is that Triad park has the spongy stuff instead of mulch/mud so it was wet but it wasn’t muddy :)  It was a very fun time!

Izzy Appleseed part 2

141

Mmmmmmm caramel apples!  They were very yummy & super chewy!  Izzy was a big fan :)  She kept saying “this is gum mommy!”  I tried to get her to take a picture with a pot on her head like Johnny Appleseed but she wasn’t interested.  Tim took a picture of me with the pot on my head trying to talk her into it….. that picture has been deleted!  LOL.  We watched the old Disney Johnny Appleseed movie on you tube and Izzy really enjoyed it.  I was kind of surprised because at the end Johnny dies…. well his spirit leaves his dead body propped up against a tree…. I was not prepared for that :)  Oh well- it didn’t seem to phase her.  142

On a separate note her is a picture Tim took of Piper after she climbed up onto Izzy’s “helper stool” !!!  I have my hands full!!!143

Izzy Appleseed

  downsize2downsize4 downsizedownsize3

Today we went to Hills Orchard & Vineyard and picked our own apples and grapes!  It was alot of fun.  The long stick we are holding is an apple picker- it has a basket on the end with a little cushion so you can get the apples way up high.  We were a little late in the season but we still got some good ones.  We were early for the grape season but got a few of those too.  Both girls had a good time- we are EATING up all this DADDY TIME!!!!  Tomorrow we are making a new recipe with the apples and learning all about Johnny Appleseed-see ya tomorrow for Izzy Appleseed part 2 :)

Bear Biscuits

I got a great book at a yard sale (thanks Amber!) called Book Cooks and today we used it for the first time!  It has recipes to correspond to books or theme's of books.  Today we read a bunch of books about bears and then made bear biscuits!!  Izzy was sooooo excited and they turned out really nice (& yummy!)  First you buy a can of refrigerated biscuit dough and cut 3 of them in to 1/8ths.  Make the pieces little balls and put them on as ears and noses.  Use raisins for the eyes and nose and maraschino cherries as the ears and there you go---- bear biscuits!!  024 035

Looking forward to much more cooking fun :)

Train to Raleigh

This past week we decided to let Izzy have her first train ride!  She & Tim rode the train to Raleigh and Piper & I drove to pick them up.  She was the most excited I have seen here in a long time!!!   She woke up that morning saying “Daddy we have to get our stuff ready to ride the choo choo train!!!!”  She had a very fun time and even fell asleep in daddy’s arms on the train.  We met with Josh & Bethany (my little brother and wife) and ate lunch with them and went to see their new house.  We hung out at their (soon to be old) apartment and played with the doggies, Izzy took a nap, while Piper tried to disassemble their TV & speaker.  We had dinner and then came home.  Both girls were good all day and were super tired by the time we got home!  It was really fun for us too :)  Next time I think we will go to Durham and see if that train station is better than the Raleigh one.002 007 010

All in all it was a great day!
